EXCEPTIONAL INSTRUCTORS

There is a lot involved in being an "exceptional instructor", a term used by the great trainer Bruce Siddle. It is a lifelong path that is hard to travel, demands sacrifice, is challenging to navigate, and requires a level of dedication that others consider unreasonable and sometimes impossible. This dedication is required not only with physical skills or classroom presentations but also applies to the instructor's personal physical capabilities and combative readiness. Exceptional instructors should be able to dynamically demonstrate techniques, maintain above-average physical capability, and motivate students while possessing knowledge and understanding of subject matter that students find mesmerizing. Simply put, students can't learn what the instructor does not know nor does not have the physical ability to demonstrate. Therefore, we at Bravo agree with Bruce, "the instructor's competence may be the difference between the life and death of the student or the general public".
